Camille Has Been 'Expert Of The Week!'
About Camille's Work:
How/Why did you choose your particular field?
I realized long ago that there were many who came to me for guidance, even when I didn't know why. As time went on, I knew I had some sort of "gift" for empathy and clarity. Mostly because whenever I would offer my perspectives, folks would benefit. It wasn't a stretch to see that this was something I was "meant" to do. For me, it's all about giving people a different look at their lives. And if in doing that, I can turn them toward all their good and away from the trivial stuff that makes them miserable, I've done my job.
Was there someone (in particular) who inspired you into it?
There was a teacher in 10th grade who really loved my writing. She was even so bold as to have one of my pieces published in the Hartford Courant. From that point on, I never stopped writing. I knew that if what I wrote could move her, then it could also have an impact on others. She was my first Muse. I'll never forget her.
What is your 'Grand Vision' for your work, and where will it lead you?
I don't really know where my work will lead me. I've stopped trying to forecast. But my Grandest Vision is to do motivational speaking. I love the energy exchanges and the way it makes me feel to affect others in such a positive way. There's a love there that can't be matched. It's such a marvelous thing...to watch the shift in people as they "get it". This is my dream for the very near future. I'd also love to write some children's books. There are so many things we can share with the children that would give them a huge jump-start into their own lives. And they're so much fun to be around, you know?
Tell us a bit more about your website and your vision for its future?
I built my site for one purpose: to scatter Joy. Back when I was working in stifling corporate jobs, I used to feel like I was dying from oppression. Whenever I had a chance, I'd seek out sites that would lift me up...and help me remember that the choices are mine. So, JoyZAChoice is there for that purpose. To give folks a lift. To remind them that all of life is about choices...and the only one who can make those choices is YOU. I believe in total responsibility...no one else is living my life, no one else lives in my skin. So how could they know what's best for me? I also love making people laugh...because to me, laughter is the fastest way to alter a mood. When we laugh, we lift the weight off our souls. That's when we KNOW we can fly!
What advice would you give an aspiring Holistic Practitioner?
If there's one thing I could offer anyone in terms of "advice", I'd say this: DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY. Simple as it sounds, it's the key to helping others. When you "follow your bliss", as Joseph Campbell said, the joy that fills you up then spills over to everyone you meet. And THAT is what makes the world a better place. We're not here to struggle or fight out way to happiness. We're here to live in Joy...and love. All the rest is man-made manipulation...to keep the masses oppressed. No thank you!
About Camille The Person:
What makes you laugh?
Critters. Watching animals play and just 'be'...makes me laugh like nothing else. They're just so comfortable in their skins, it's impossible not to be inspired by that. And, from my experiences with them, they understand the sound of laughter. They know how they're affecting us, and they love to see us happy too. (no, I'm not crazy, just acutely aware!)
What makes you sad?
Seeing people treat each other and the other living beings so badly makes me horribly sad. It's so much easier, and satisfying, to help each other. But yet, there are so many who are simply too miserable to see this. Very sad indeed.
What do you like to do when you aren't working?
I love the outdoors, so I hike a lot. And go for walks with the dogs. And ride horses. And garden. I love to watch things grow. Oh yea...I read a lot too.
Tell us some more about YOU?
I guess you could say I'm a Blossoming Being. I've finally reached a point in my life where I'm utterly comfortable in my skin; I no longer feel the need to prove myself, or impress others. So, for the most part, I spend a great deal of my time romping around the planet with a boat load of love, ready to share it with whomever wishes to take it.
I wear silly hats and paint mustaches on my face, just to make people lighten up a bit. It's a blast to watch their reactions. It doesn't take much to change a person's day, you know?
I believe in magic and fairy tales and all things good. I really think everyone is just doing the best they can with what they know. And, I don't take myself at all seriously any longer. It just doesn't work for me. I feel that I have much to share with the world, and that by sharing, I can nudge others into a more Joy-filled life.
I say we're here to liberate ourselves from the lies of oppression. I really believe it's our birth right to live free. Free from judgment and pain and fear. And it's not nearly as hard as most people think. It's all an inside job. As the saying goes, "live by example". You just can't "tell" people, you have to LIVE IT. Life is just too short to be unhappy!
