Gardening has been man's number one source for sustenance for that last five thousand years. Just until recently people would cultivate their own crops and eat food they grew for themselves.
Now the food industry has changed a lot. There are all the chemicals they throw into the fast foods and meats, which are quite scary by themselves.
But they are even chemically altering plants in huge crops. The bad thing about this is the chemicals they use haven't been fully tested.
They do not necessarily cause any immediate health defects, but at the same time doctors can't prove that they are not causing health problems later in life. Then again everything is dangerous these days.
Even your computer screen you are reading this from is beaming harmful toxins into your unconcerned body. In your monitor alone there is barium, phosphorus, mercury, cadmium, brominated flame retardants and much more.
High amounts of these chemicals have been proven to cause cancer, but low amounts have been unproven either way, so they are stamped as FDA approved. So if we don't want to be overwhelmed with toxic waste we are surrounding ourselves with what do we do?
Grow a garden. Mother Nature knows how to provide for its own.
Gardening alkaline food is going to help against any sort of ailment. Thus, gardening the perfect plan for any healthy family.
The first thing you will need to do is till the soil, the softer you have the soil the easier it is going to be for plants to spread their roots. Secondly you are going to have to amend the soil with sulfur or lime, depending if you need to raise the pH at all.
Alkaline basically means that there is a pH of higher than 7.0, which is the pH of water. Acidic fruits have low pH and alkaline have higher pH.
Amend your soil so that it is at a pH of slightly above 7. You will also want to get some nutrients for your soil too.
PH is like the home of a fish but for a plant. A fresh water fish cannot live in salt water and vice versa.
Nutrient rich fertilizer is going to be like the fish food. You have to have more than just the right kind of water; you have to feed the fish.
Then lastly you will have to water your fish. I mean plant. Try to use clean water straight from your hose.
Sometimes using recycled rain gutter water hold contaminants that hurt your plants and may even propagate disease. So just use clean water.
