Hearing Aids Change Lives

It's frustrating to come to terms with the fact that you can't hear as well as you used to, and it can be just as frustrating for the people around you when they are unsure whether they are being heard or not. Many people who are suffering from hearing loss don't realize what a blessing and relief it can be to get hearing aids in Boise.

There are many excuses that people have for not wanting hearing aids. Some people don't want to admit that they can't hear as well as they used to. Other people think they'd feel self-conscious if their friends or family members knew they wore hearing aids. Sometimes the idea of adjusting to something knew that they don't understand can make people nervous.

I know that when my grandpa first got hearing aids, it was a difficult adjustment for him. He was bothered by the fact that his ears were overly sensitive to certain noises, when we all thought he should be grateful that he could hear noises at all.

Grandpa can get a little bit feisty so he made sure we all knew how annoying the phone ringing was and even how impatient he was getting with some of his squealing grandchildren. We all know that he loves all of his grandchildren regardless of how high pitched their voices are, but we were a little concerned about how discontent he seemed.

Then one day I witnessed something that made me realize that even with grandpa's complaints, he was glad to be able to hear again.

We had just finished a two-day road trip from Seattle to Salt Lake, and grandpa was going to be staying at my house. He was exhausted and relieved to finally be able to take a relaxing shower, but unfortunately he accidentally forgot to take out his hearing aids before getting in.

After his shower, my grandpa came to me trying to hide the tears in his eyes. He was devastated thinking that he wasn't going to be able to hear for the rest of his two-week vacation. Fortunately with time his hearing aids from Boise dried out and he was able to hear again so that he could enjoy the rest of his vacation.

I think that many people who are experiencing hearing loss don't realize how much it is affecting their lives, but once they have their hearing aids they realize that they wouldn't want to trade their ability to hear for anything.
