Are you often irritable, stressed, or find yourself in a point of panic complete with sweating, pain in your chest and other indicators? It may be that you've suffered from a panic attack. There are a number of possible conditions that you {may suffer from|could have|might not know about}. Here are 6 of the most common types of anxiety disorder.

1. GAD
"GAD" is the acronym for "Generalized Anxiety Disorder," and is a term for someone that might be considered a professional worry-wart. If you are always afraid of something bad about to happen, or if you're worried all the time, then you may fall into this category. Your anxiety level will become so bad that it distracts you from everyday living. Watch for stomach discomfort, feeling exhausted and feeling restless.

2. Panic Disorder, or Panic Attacks
This kind of anxiety will show up in the unexpected, immediate panic attack. These episodes can happen constantly, to where the recipient becomes anxious of the next attack. Another sign is the belief that nobody will come to help when the next attack takes place.

3. Chronic Phobia
These phobias come in all sorts, but are generally an unnatural fear of something that really shouldn't excite such a response. Things such as elevators or airplanes, spider and snakes, etc., can all be a phobia. It can also be a fear of an event (public speaking is a popular example), but it's all a kind of anxiety.

4. Social anxiety disorder
This type| of anxiety disorder makes you worried about public humiliation, and an uncommon fear of being rejected or being looked down on. Lots of people may simply call this being shy, but it's actually a disorder.

5. OCD
OCD is the acronym for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and it occurs when your thoughts are out of control, as well as certain behaviors. For instance, if you worry about things like not locking your door and you constantly check, or if your house/office needs to be "just right" with everything in its place, or some other compulsive behavior - this may be OCD.

6. PTSD or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Lastly, you want to |understand PTSD, which is another disorder that has enjoyed much press. This usually takes place after traumatic events, such as life-threatening situations (as in war). Some symptoms include nightmares, being jumpy for no obvious reason, having flashbacks. Others find they can't face situations that are similar to the traumatic event.

As you know, there are many other forms of anxiety, these are the most common. Many don't realize it's all due to anxiety. Use this information| to ask yourself if you also suffer from an anxiety disorder.
