Yoga s beginning can be traced back to the Brahman civilization of India in the year 900 500 B.C. as supported by some seals, which featured figures that took the yoga position. Although different Indian religions Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism refer to yoga in varied ways, they present a unified conformity on the healing effects that the traditional practice gives.

The healing effects of yoga have left many with wonders and amazement. In the ancient times, yoga was considered as a pathway to achieving sublime happiness and enlightenment. Nowadays, it is mostly considered as a link to self actualization, body enhancement, and healing. It is not a wonder then why many people enjoy the vast health and mental benefits that they get from yoga, and with this, practitioners share the benefits they have been receiving from this ancient exercise.

Mental Benefits

Research has proven that practicing yoga improves a person s mental capacities. Yoga positions allow the improvement of blood circulation to and from the brain, therefore giving the brain balanced brain waves that result in a peaceful state of mind. Improper blood circulation in the brain can cause unpleasant conditions like insomnia and poor self imagery, but with yoga, avoidance of these conditions is achievable.

Spiritual Benefits

According to many people who practice yoga, this method of exercise gives them a clearer understanding of the people and things around them. They get to see the world from a different perspective, which makes them more appreciative of life. Yoga practitioners experience an overwhelming feeling that connects them closer to their spiritual beliefs.

Emotional Benefits

It is also proven that with the people who practice yoga, emotional benefits are always realized. People who were initially suffering from depression, anxiety, stress, alcoholism, and poor relationships were gradually healed from their emotional hardships after they attend yoga classes. As a result, they are able to improve the quality of their living with a better emotional state.

Physical Benefits

People believe that the most important healing effect of yoga lies in the development of one s physical state. It was also proven with research that yoga practice prevents physical diseases such as cancer, hypertension, asthma, headache, eye strain, back ache, indigestion, only to mention a few. Apart from preventing, or helping to heal the aforementioned issues, the practice of yoga has also helped people to maintain a firm and healthy looking body giving them overall good health.

With yoga, a person s body is molded into a better house for mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical improvement. It is definitely a great way to care for and to heal your body. To try yoga is to give one s body the chance to become better in all ways.
