If your pet has been diagnosed with canine urinary issues, you can help your dog get better without resorting to harsh medicines. In this article, you'll three simple treatment steps that can also be used as a daily plan for prevention.

Before we talk about these steps, let's take a look at prescription medicines, like antibiotics, which are often used to treat canine urinary health problems. Although you probably know this, antibiotics are drugs and can have side effects that actually make your pet feel worse. Since antibiotics stop the symptoms, but do not heal what causes them, they often set the stage for recurring infections. Pet owners need to know that drugs are not as always the best option or as safe as they are generally believed to be. This is important because your dog's urinary health is central to immunity and good overall health.

That said, here is the three step plan. It goes without saying that your dog needs to drink plenty of water. Water helps the kidneys do their job and flush toxins through the bladder system and out the body. Of course, not any water will do. While you don't need to buy your pet bottled water, it is a good idea to invest in a tap filter that will remove harmful chemicals from the water. After all, you don't want to give your pet a big bowl of chemicals.

Next, read the ingredients label on the food that you feed your dog. If it lists chemicals, pesticides, additives, cheap grains and long names that you can't pronounce, it is better to find a healthier food. Since dogs are carnivores, the first ingredient should be meat. Feeding your dog healthy food that is rich in nutrients, vitamins and minerals will help provide the nutrition to help your dog avoid getting canine urinary health problems in the first place. Obviously, good nutrition is a cornerstone of good health and a lot of the commercial kibble brands out there are little more than junk food.

Third, get a natural remedy that has been formulated to treat urinary issues like bladder infections and bladder crystals or stones. These formulations are gentle but effective and have no side effects whatsoever. Since some formulations are much more effective than others, look for one that contains clinically proven ingredients such as Uva Ursi, Cantharis and Staphysagris. These ingredients treat canine urinary issues quickly and help them heal completely, preventing further problems. If your pet does have a genetic tendency toward urinary problems or is an older pet, you can also give natural remedies daily for prevention because they are completely safe.

So there it is: three simple steps that will resolve canine urinary health problems like urinary tract infections and bladder stones: good food, clean fresh water and a natural medicine made specifically to treat bladder issues.
