How to use Levitra successfully and safely

Levitra Dosages

Levitra is available in 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg and 20mg pills. 20mg is the maximum dose for Levitra. Levitra comes in lower doses, so it generaly has fewer side effects. If a lower dose works well for you, do not increase the dose as a higher dose won’t work any better and neither has the drug been approved for higher doses.

Levitra should be taken no more than once a day; you must wait at least 24 hours before repeating the Levitra dosage. It should not be combined with any other impotence treatment drugs like Viagra or Cialis. The maximum recommended dose for Levitra is 20mg. It can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour to kick in. A very fatty meal may somewhat hinder absorption time. Levitra effects could last up to 4 hours; in fact, some people also witness lingering effects up to a day or two after taking this drug.

Side effects of Levitra

As with other ED drugs, there are side effects with Levitra. However, not everyone taking Levitra will suffer them. Most people tolerate it quite well. And if side effects do occur, they are usually minor and require little or no treatment. However, in clinical trials, up to 3.4% of the people stopped taking Levitra because of side effects.

Based on research studies, common Levitra side effects include, headache, facial flushing, indigestion or upset stomach, stuffy or runny nose (rhinitis), inflammation of the sinuses (sinusitis), flu-like symptoms, accidental injury, nausea, dizziness and back pain.

These side effects normally go away after a couple of hours and do not require any medical attention.

Rare Levitra side effects, occuring in fewer than 2% of the people taking the drug, include allergic reactions, angina pectoris (chest pain) arthritis, blurred vision, diarrhoea, high blood pressure (hypertension), insomnia, muscle pain (known as myalgia), prolonged erection without pain, prolonged erection with pain (priapism), an unexplained rash, a sudden decrease in or loss of hearing, ringing of the ears (tinnitus), blurred vision, temporary vision loss, urinary incontinence and vomiting.

On extremely rare occasions, people taking Levitra have also experienced serious heart, brain, or blood vessel problems. These include a heart attack, serious irregular heart rhythms, stroke, transient ischemic attack (TIA - a mini-stroke), high blood pressure (hypertension), bleeding within the brain or in the spaces just outside the brain and bleeding in the lungs

These side effects were generally witnessed in people with heart or blood vessel risk factors and occurred during or shortly after sexual activity. Therefore, it is extremely difficult to pinpoint the origin of these side effects or even if they direcetly related to Levitra.

In addition, rare cases of a condition called non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) associated with the use of PDE5 inhibitors has also come to light. This condition can cause sudden vision loss in one or both eyes.

Precautions before you Buy Levitra

Before taking Levitra, it is important that the doctor your complete medical history. You must tell the doctor about all your medical problems, including:

• Heart problems such as angina, congestive heart failure, irregular heartbeats, chest pain or heart attack
• Uncontrolled low or high blood pressure
• Stroke
• A rare heart condition known as prolongation of the QT interval (long QT syndrome)
• Liver problems
• Kidney problems that require dialysis
• Retinitis pigmentosa, a rare genetic eye disease
• A family history of degenerative eye disease
• Stomach ulcers
• Bleeding problem or blood clotting disorder
• Deformed penis shape or Peyronie’s disease
• An erection that lasted more than 4 hours
• Blood cell problems such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma or leukemia

At the same time, you must also let your doctor know about all the medicines, including over the counter drugs, prescription drugs, vitamins, herbal medications or antacids you are taking as combining them with Levitra could lead to some serious side effects. These medications include:

• Nitrostat
• Nitrolingual
• Nitro-Dur
• Nitro-Bid
• Minitran
• Deponit
• Transderm-Nitro
• Isosorbide dinitrate
• Isosorbide mononitrate and others
• Recreational drugs such as amyl nitrate

And alpha blockers such as;
• Doxazosin,
• Guanadrel
• Prazosin
• Terazosin
• Alfuzosin
• Tamsulosin

In addition, children below the age of 18 years must not use this drug.
