Do you find yourself having high blood pressure (BP)on your annual trip to the clinic? Or you find yourself having higher BP than the healthy level and you wanted to do something to bring it down? What did the doctor suggest to you? Medicines? You are probably thinking if there is anything else that you can take or do other than just relying on medication again, right? Medication are not only costly but causes side effect to your body as well. The good news is there are plenty of common foods and things to do that can help you reduce your BP.

One very simple way is to reduce your daily sodium intake. Sodium is basically another word for salt. Most of the processed and pre packaged foods nowadays have extreme level of sodium which your body doesn’t really need. The same goes for the common snacks such as chips. Examples of processed foods are luncheon meat, bacon, hot dogs, sausage and ham. So imagine how much of sodium you are taking in daily with your diet of all these foods and snacks. What you can do instead is eat more fresh meat and fruits which most of them are naturally low in sodium.

While you stay away from your favorite snacks, it doesn’t mean that there is nothing tasty left for you. One great food that you still indulge in is Dark Chocolate. Eating small amounts of dark chocolate helps to dilate the blood vessels which in turn facilitate blood flow. Thus, lowering your blood pressure. The flavonoids contained in dark chocolate are antioxidant rich compounds that gave this effect to your blood vessels. So go ahead and indulge in small amount of dark chocolate.

Another great way to help reduce your BP is to exercise. Exercise is the most perfect natural remedy for a variety of health issues including high BP. You can simply add a 20 minute walk to your daily routine if you prefer less intense exercise. If you like some variety you can do swimming, play tennis, do aerobics and so on. The options are endless when it comes to exercising. All these help to reduce your BP naturally. At the same time, it act as a perfect stress relief to your life and allow you to focus better.

So the above are 3 simple things you can do to reduce your BP naturally without having to rely on medications. Having said that, the key here is to take action and be consistent in it in order to achieve your desired result. Nothing is more important that your health in life and high BP can lead to numerous illness and disease such as stroke, heart attack, kidney damage, etc. All of which will ruin both yours and your family life. So if you are being informed that you have high BP during your check up, take action now to reduce it. The earlier you act the better it is.
