"If you think you can, or you think you can't, either way you're right". One of the best quotes ever, and one that is absolutely true. What you think is directly related to your own 'reality'. Like the Little Engine That Could, or my personal favorite, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, it was with determination and utter resolve they both conquered what was said to be "impossible".
And so it is with us. Our health, in all forms (physical, mental, spiritual, etc.) is directly related to our mindset. When we're imbalanced in any one of those 'arenas', our health is affected. When stress becomes too prominent, we fall ill. When we eat improperly, or don't exercise, we fall ill. When we focus too much on our physicality and ignore our spirit, we fall ill. No matter how you look at it, wellness is about balance.
One of the ways to find said balance is to turn your attention to creativity. It does not matter if you consider yourself creative. What matters is that you give yourself the 'benefit of the doubt' and climb out on that limb.
Grab a camera and go for a walk. Focus your attention on the many surprises around you. A weed sprouting out from a crack in the sidewalk. A candy wrapper lying on a bush. A fallen feather atop a pile of trash. Surprises abound, and it is with your attention to NOW that you will find them. Taking pictures is a marvelous way to enhance what you may consider to be a "lack of talent". Just try it and see.
Another fun (and easy) way to 'ignite' your creativity is to finger paint. Think I'm kidding? When was the last time you got 'dirty'...in the name of fun? You can buy fingerpaints at most any craft store (Micheal's, JoAnn's, etc.). Grab a big pad of thick paper while you're there. No brushes needed. Then, put on an old t-shirt, take your goodies out to the yard, and make a mess. (don't forget to use your feet too. Toes are great 'brushes'!) It's SO MUCH fun...and you may really be surprised at just how good you feel when you're finished with your 'masterpiece'.
If you're not into getting dirty, here's one more:
With nothing more than some paper and a writing utensil, sit down and write out your "perfect day". Release all limiting beliefs; in other words, if money, health, environmental circumstances, and any other 'roadblocks' were NOT considered, what would YOUR perfect day look like? You might 'pretend' you're rich as Rockefeller (as my Mama used to say) and had anything you might want at your disposal. What does that day look like? How does it begin? Do you have a butler to serve your coffee and breakfast? Are you sitting on a lanai overlooking the ocean or a deck looking out at the mountains? What are you wearing? Are your pajamas made of silk or cotton? DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS. Paint that 'picture' with your words...and see it in your mind. This is a most powerful exercise, and it will show you just how creative you really are (not to mention put you in a beautiful place!).
These are very basic little "games" you can play with. All of them will take your mind elsewhere....and give you back some balance. All too often, as "adults", we forget how important it is to PLAY. And in playing, we revive our true nature: the nature of a Child of Light.
So, use your creativity to regain your balance. Use it to distract you from the rut of 'reality'...and to create a NEW reality. It works...if only you will DO IT.
