Frankly, I'm getting a little tired of hearing how "bad" things are. I'm pretty sure most people feel the same way. It's tiresome, and completely anti-productive. Not to mention futile. It does no good whatsoever to keep telling the same story: I have no money. I'm losing my 'security'. Everything is a mess. BLAH. BLAH. BLAH.
What if you told a different story? What if, even at the risk of being called a liar, you told the story you WANT to be living instead? Who cares if 'they' call you a liar? Are they living in your skin? Are they paying your bills? Are they providing for you and your family? Likely that answer is NO. So, who gives a rip if someone wants to judge you for the way you choose to change your life circumstance? What if, after all is said and done, it's the "pretenders" who cruise through this nonsense and create the life of their dreams? Now wouldn't THAT be something to tell about!!!
Here's my offering for today:
I think it's high time we get on with it. I think we'd all be much better off if we spent some time in our "pretend" world, painting that picture with utter clarity. Seeing it. Feeling it. Smelling it. Being there...for REAL. Because it can't hurt and it sure might help. The stress caused by economic woes is enough to kill you. I'm not kidding. Stress is a nasty savage and YOU are the prey. Are you really going to let that ruin your life? Are you willing to allow the naysayers to control your happiness?
I shan't share with you my own economic "woes", as it's a story I prefer not to live. Instead, I'll share some of what keeps me from crumbling under the pressure. Games I play, tools I use, things I think...all of which help me maintain a happy demeanor and a sense of humor (a MUST HAVE, in such times!). While I may not be presenting rocket science, or even anything 'new' about one's mindset, it is my hope that, even for a moment, you'll put aside your troubles and find a smile. It may be all I have to offer at the moment, but it's more than nothing!
Pretending is one of my favorite things to do. It lowers my blood pressure, raises my endorphin levels, and generally keeps me going. (and it sure beats putting a gun to my head!) So, on any given day, when the stupid, unproductive, worrisome thoughts about a "lack" of money keep hounding my brain, I usually do one of three things:
First option is to go out to my garden and weed, prune, feed and water the many flowers and trees. I always cut some roses to bring inside and make certain to get good and dirty while I'm at it. Kinda like a kid making mud pies. Having my hands in the dirt just grounds me like nothing else. And the various fragrances from all the many flowers are like being in aromatic heaven. Just LOVE that part!
Option number two is more sedentary. I printed up some "checks" that I use to create a feeling of great abundance. I ALWAYS have lots of money in that "account", so I'll sit down and start writing checks. Some are for friends who are struggling. Others are for 'lavish' things like a 21 day cruise on a private yacht. Or those brand new boots I saw the other day. Or a day at the spa. I also always write a few checks to my favorite critter sanctuaries. Gotta keep the critters fed too! In short, it's a 'game' that makes me feel light and free. While I'm playing, I don't give 'reality' a single thought. Because, at that moment, it IS my reality. Sound silly?
So what?
Option number 3 is to 'check out' and watch a movie that makes me laugh. Laughter really IS the best medicine, especially if you're stressed out. I'll make a big deal out of it too. I make popcorn, grab my favorite chocolate bar, pour a little juice in a wine glass and draw the curtains. I put the super-stereo on and allow myself to be transported to some other place. For the next 2 hours, I'm not THINKING at all. Just enjoying the moment and growing my sense of humor. Yep. It works!
Lastly, I can't exclude the Qi Gong practice. I love doing Qi Gong. It makes my body tingle and my mind still. It allows me to breathe even more deeply than usual...and that makes for all sorts of good 'stuff'. Every day, for at least 30 minutes, I go to that peaceful place and bring my Qi with me. I never knew how much of an impact such a practice could have, but I do now. It's really a wonderful way to create even more flow in your life. I'm forever grateful to Lee Holden and his wonderful teachings!
There are lots of ways to "check out" for a while. To go to a place where EVERYTHING is wonderful. To breathe deeply the beauty that abounds. And if it means going there to maintain my love for life, then so I shall. Because in my world, the only thing that matters is that I FEEL GOOD. More than anything, this has proven to be the most productive thing, the most effective way of creating the world I wish to live in.
It's my canvas and I'll paint it however I wish!
