There is an enormous wealth of information available to support the idea that we are, in fact, fully capable of healing ourselves from any dis-ease or malady that may arise. Stories abound about people who've cured themselves of cancer, arthritis, fibromyalgia, heart disease, diabetes, even multiple sclerosis. Often, when patients return to their respective doctors for further testing or treatment, they are met with shock and disbelief when the results show no signs of said malady remaining in their bodies. And, until recently, the common reaction from doctors has been "we can't explain it. We don't know how or why the patient is suddenly cancer-free. It's a mystery."
Well, it isn't a mystery any longer. Finally, after years of medicine based on 'pure logic', doctors are getting on board. More and more of them are considering the possibility that we can, and DO, have the power to heal ourselves. I imagine this may be to the chagrin of said doctors, because the more people trust, and then use this information, the less doctors will be needed. People will stop running to the doctor every time any little thing is "wrong". They will, instead, take their health into their own hands and release said malady, without drugs or tests or surgeries. Can you imagine?
Of course, this data that is finally becoming available to us (in Western cultures) is not new information. The Chinese have been using these practices for thousands of years. Techniques such as Qi Gong, Tai Chi, yoga, herbal remedies, meditation, etc., have long been used by millions of peoples not only to maintain health, but also to regain it when imbalances occur. In old traditional Chinese culture, people would pay their village practitioner a monthly stipend to maintain health. If something went awry, and the villager was met with any disorder, that stipend would be lowered or eliminated entirely until the person returned to wellness. In other words, the practitioner was paid to KEEP his 'patients' well, and if they were met with any sort of imbalance to cause their illness, the practitioner would drop his fees until that person was well again. Hmmmmmmmm. Think that's called "taking responsibility"?
In western culture, the opposite is true. Most people only go to see their doctors when they're ill. And then, HOLY MOLY! The expense of said treatment is beyond comprehension! Seems a bit backwards, don't you think?
Drug companies and health care institutions have become the bane of our existence. Most people can't even afford health insurance, let alone what doctors deem 'needed treatments' to get the patient well. It's a sad state of affairs, to say the least. We have become a pill-popping, hopelessly dependent culture with a grossly warped sense of what wellness means. That era of medical practice appears to be coming to an end (HALLELUJAH!!)
Having met with my own imbalances, it took a bit of time for me to realize that I can, in fact, return to wellness without drugs or surgeries. After too many visits to the doctor and too many failed attempts with drugs and various other treatments, I decided that I'd had enough. It infuriated me to sit in the office while my doctor spent 5 minutes on what drugs I "needed" to take, and another 15 minutes explaining the "possible side affects" of said drugs. Are you kidding me? The drugs sounded worse than the dis-ease! And you want me to believe I "need" them? PULEEEZ!
I won't say it's been a fearless journey, as it hasn't. At first, it was really quite terrifying. But the more I practiced meditations and visualizations, the more I saw the results. The healing had begun, and it was my job to be both persistent and unwavering in my belief that I not only could heal myself, but actually WAS healing myself. And I will tell you, it was, primarily, the Qi Gong that netted the fastest results.
Each morning, after a vegetable/fruit smoothie, I lie on the floor and meditate for 45 minutes. I breathe long, deep breaths, close my eyes and 'see' myself well. Usually, I'm listening to some sort of music that induces a theta brainwave, so that I may let go of distracting thoughts. Once the meditation is over, I'll do some Qi Gong to further enhance the movement of energy, clearing out the toxic energies, and bringing in the 'golden' energies. The flowing, peaceful movements of Qi Gong are perfectly suited to this continuing 'thought' of wellness. In short, it works (for me)! Even with the limited mobility I had when I first began this practice, I was still able to do the movements well enough to get that energy flowing. As time went on (and it wasn't much time...maybe a couple of weeks at most), I was able to do more with much greater ease.
Most people were disbelieving when I'd share what I was doing. They just couldn't wrap their brains around the fact that I'd actually begun to heal myself of a dis-ease that the doctors said was 'incurable'. "Without drugs? No way!" But, it's true. I stopped taking the drugs and focused on the power I knew was available to me (and to us all). I simply refused to believe otherwise. I made up my mind that I COULD and WOULD heal myself, without the use of drugs. I repeated various affirmations throughout the day, into the night and all the way to bed-time. I held the image of myself in full wellness, as a child holds a treasure. I was stubborn and steadfast in those beliefs, as I slowly let go of the fear and doubt that had, ultimately, caused the malady in the first place.
Magic? Nope. Not magic. Truth. Every single one of us has the same connection to Source Energy. We all have the capacity to be well, live well, and thrive. And we don't need drugs to do it. All we need is a belief and an unfailing vision of that wellness...and a little patience. Mostly, we don't become ill in an instant. It's usually the result of long periods of time under great duress/stress. It may seem like it happens 'overnight', but usually that's not the case. So, it makes sense that it might take a bit of time to release the imbalance and return to wellness. (That, too, is only because of what we 'think'...it's all in the head!) But really, what difference does it make? The only thing that matters is that we know, without a doubt, that wellness is our natural state of Being. When we hold this as our credo, then, a return to wellness is inevitable. And the lessons we learn along the way are well worth the discomfort! Well, at least in my book they are.
