Article Summary Long before a thermonuclear war can come about, we have had to lay waste our own sanity. We begin with the children. It is imperative to catch them in time. Without the most thorough and rapid brainwashing their dirty minds would see through our dirty tricks. Children are not yet fools, but we shall turn them into imbeciles like ourselves, with high IQ’s if possible.

Long before a thermonuclear war can come about, we have had to lay waste our own sanity. We begin with the children. It is imperative to catch them in time. Without the most thorough and rapid brainwashing their dirty minds would see through our dirty tricks. Children are not yet fools, but we shall turn them into imbeciles like ourselves, with high IQ’s if possible.

From the moment of birth, when the Stone Age baby confronts the twentieth century mother, the baby is subjected to these forces of violence, called love, as its mother and father, and their parents and their parents before them, have been. These forces are mainly concerned with destroying most of its potentialities, and on the whole this enterprise is successful. By the time the new human being is fifteen or so, we are left with a being like ourselves, a half crazed creature more or less adjusted to a mad world. This is normality in our present age. . .

The condition of alienation, of being asleep, of being unconscious, of being out of one’s mind, is the condition of the normal man.

Society highly values its normal man. It educates children to lose themselves and to become absurd, and thus to be normal.

Normal men have killed perhaps 100,000,000 of their fellow normal men in the last fifty years.

That incredible description of a normal man was written by R.D. Laing, the Scottish psychiatrist who published The Politics of Experience and the Bird of Paradise in 1967. His thoughts had a huge impact on existential philosophy. The normal man as we create him is quite a human specimen. Normal men always have good reasons for their behavior. Normal means different behavior in different cultures, but the end result of learning is a normalcy based on the beliefs of any given culture. Those beliefs hold a vast number of associations in them, so normal is a relative term that’s used to describe humans that have been conditioned to act in an acceptable way, which is a judgment, based on accepted cultural practices or modes of knowing.

The system of learning how to be normal is a fluctuating method of conscious awareness, which only produces what has been established by past beliefs and behaviors. Some men have less awareness of self, and they only teach what they know. Other men focus on religion and politics to teach normalcy, so the window of awareness only allows and accepts those beliefs. Within all these different aspects of normalcy and various methods of teaching there lies a common sense of destruction, as well as separation. The fundamental normal man is taught to believe that destruction, separation, and killing are acceptable based on select associations within a belief. That’s the insanity in the normal we live. We are imbeciles that teach using separated perceptions and self-serving concepts, so we can experience an external world filled with contrast within the diversity of normalcy.

To say that we are wrong or right in the way we view ourselves is not the issue, for whatever we believe to be true, is, so that we can experience that self created truth.

What we now want to experience is less separation, less destruction and less killing, but the deep roots of normalcy hinder us from expanding those roots until we accept, acknowledge and examine our beliefs without limitations. All cultures are beginning to redefine normal through the devastation we create to protect our self created truths, and as this process continues, the collective consciousness will expand and develop a more integral normal. Our children’s children will define normal not like Dr. Laing, they will know a more unified, less destructive normal that respects all consciousness, because they will be more aware and will understand that whatever they do to another aspect of consciousness, they do the same thing to themselves.
